Every piece of clothing we design and every person who wears it is part of a testimony that is still being written—a story of how faith, hope, and perseverance can build a strength that goes far beyond the physical.
The Founder's Journey: From Rock Bottom to a Divine Calling
The heart of Beyond Barbell is the story of its founder, Kevin Bravo. Kevin’s journey began in a place of pain. After losing his father in his early teens, he was left with an angry heart, questioning God through years of hardship.
This path eventually led him to rock bottom, a place of complete brokenness. It was there, in his darkest valley, that Kevin finally called out to God for help. He discovered that God had been waiting for him all along.
This encounter sparked a total transformation. Kevin was filled with a new drive to rebuild his life on a solid foundation. He devoted himself to working out, diving into the Bible, and consciously working on his perspective and the words he spoke. This was the beginning of healing—spiritually, mentally, and physically.
From a Prayer to a Purpose: Building the Gym
After years of personal growth, Kevin prayed for direction, and God’s answer was clear: it was time to build. He dropped everything to chase a dream that felt bigger than himself.
In 2018, Kevin began gathering and buying used equipment, piece by piece. In 2019, this act of faith became Beyond Barbell Gym—a place with a divine purpose. Kevin’s vision was to create a sanctuary where people could better themselves in every way: spiritually, mentally, and physically. It was designed to be a home for the broken, a place where anyone could find community and Jesus while on their fitness journey, welcoming believers and non-believers to spark conversation and build connections.
